Betty Intagliata Fall Lecture Series-
Focusing on Venice and Sarasota County History

October 16, 2018.  7 PM.  Program:  "Bertha Palmer:  Queen of Chicago and Legendary Woman of Sarasota County."  Presented by Kate Holmes.  Kate has been a Sarasota County resident for over 20 years and has interpreted Bertha Palmer as a living history presentation to over 100 groups throughout the County.  She credits her involvement with Historic Spanish Point for giving her a framework for educating and entertaining residents and visitors alike about the remarkable Mrs. Palmer.  Kate serves on the Advisory Board of the Historical Society of Sarasota County from whom she was given the title "Volunteer of the Year" for her many speaking engagements.


The Betty Intagliata Lecture Series:  Sponsored by the Venice Area Historical Society (VAHS).  Permanent funding for the Betty Intagliata Lecture Series is provided by the Bill Jervey, Jr. Charitable Foundation.


Directions:  The Sanctuary of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Venice (UUCOV) is located at 1971 Pinebrook Road, Venice, on the corner of Edmondson Road.  Use the driveway into the church campus from Edmondson Road, west of Pinebrook Road.  From the south on I75, exit at Exit 193, turn right on Jacaranda Blvd. and travel to the flashing stoplight at Border Road.  Turn left and follow Border Road that turns into Edmondson through another flashing stop sign and then a stoplight at Pinebrook Road.  From the north on I75, exit at Exit 195, turn right and immediately move into the left lane.  Take the left at the first light (Pinebrook Road) and travel south about a mile.  Turn right at the driveway that leads into Island Montessori School and then turn left into the UUCOV church parking lot.  Honore Road may also be followed south as it turns into Pinebrook Road.
