Board of Directors
Director
Bill Haberthur Bill Haberthur was born and raised in Bethel Park, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a B.S. in Business Administration and Management Science. He lived in New York City for 31 years and worked on Wall Street for Citibank and two municipal bond insurance companies. During his career, he traveled extensively throughout the US, Europe, and Asia meeting with clients and investors. Already retired, he left NYC and returned home to be with family. He wanted to give back to his hometown and looked for a volunteer project when he found the historical society. It combined his love of history and architecture with the challenge of renovating a historic landmark building and utilized his Wall Street skill set for making presentations and raising capital. He was quickly asked to join the Board where, after eight years, he still holds the position of Secretary. Bill has helped raise over $1.3 million dollars to renovate a 12,000 square foot 1905/1917 historically landmarked schoolhouse. By engaging businesses and residents in the process, he was able to garner not only their financial support but also their willingness to donate family treasures to establish several museums within the building and to create a true repository for the community’s history. Recently re-locating to Venice, Bill wanted to again get involved with the local historical society. Bringing his skill set with him, he is looking forward to being an integral part of the Venice Area Historical Society. Bill serves on a number of committees at VAHS and is the Chair of the Communications Committee. |
