Jeana Hilligoss

Jeana Hilligoss grew up in Indiana and attended Ball State University where she obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.  She spent 34 years in the classroom both in Indiana and Illinois before retiring to Venice with her husband Dave in 2009.  They have two daughters and four grandchildren who live nearby.

Jeana is very active in the Pelican Pointe community where she resides having served as President of the Women’s organization.  She is currently the Vice President of the PPWA Foundation and will become President in 2027.  Also, she is active in the community as a founding member of START (Sharing Talents and Resources Together, SPARCC and SRQ IMPACT 100.  She is a past board member of the Society having served as the Education chair and continues to be on the Education committee where the focus has been on educating our local fourth-grade students.

In celebration of Venice’s centennial, Jeana has been portraying Ann Worthington, the first mayor’s wife.  She is on the Speakers Bureau for the Society.  When not volunteering, she loves to take long walks and works out at the YMCA.  Jeana has always loved history, and it is one of the factors as to why they chose Venice.
